Meet the Children's Hospital's new patient ambassador, Nick Griffin

Meet 17-year-old Nick Griffin, N.C. Children's Hospital's 2010-2011 patient ambassador. Patient ambassador, Nick Griffin, with his dad, John (left), and UNC football coach Butch Davis at the 2010 Run for the Promise Gala.Nick made his ambassadorial debut at the Run for the Promise Gala on May 1, where he had the pleasure of meeting UNC football coach Butch Davis. Boy, was he thrilled! (And by "he," we mean Coach Davis. Well, okay, we really meant Nick, but Coach Davis was really excited to meet Nick, too!)

Nick and his family live in Edgecombe County, but Nick has cystic fibrosis. That means every three months Nick (and usually his dad, too!) come to Chapel Hill to spend three weeks inpatient at the Children's Hospital. And because they spend so much time at the Children’s Hospital, they know better than most how important support for the Children's Promise really is.

Nick, in his capacity as a patient ambassador will represent the Children's Hospital at various public and community functions over hte next year. He is an exceptional young man with an amazing family, and we’re so excited to have them in this role. Welcome, Nick and the entire Griffin family!
