The Curnen Society
The Curnen Society, founded in 2009, is named in honor of the UNC School of Medicine’s first chairman of pediatrics and leader in children’s health, Dr. Edward Curnen. Curnen served as chair for eight years, from 1952 to 1960, when N.C. Children's Hospital was a part of the Memorial Hospital.
Membership in the Curnen Society is reserved for individuals who make a five-year commitment to contribute $5,000 or more to N.C. Children's Hospital through the N.C. Children’s Promise:
- Founders' Circle: $25,000 (gift of $5,000/year for five years)
- Benefactor Circle: $20,000 (gift of $4,000/year for five years)
- Charter Members’ Club: $15,000 (gift of $3,000/year for five years)
- Cornerstone Club: $10,000 (gift of $2,000/year for five years)
- Sustainers' Club: $5,000 (gift of $1,000/year for five years)
Membership Privileges
- Listing on the donor wall located in the N.C. Children’s Hospital’s lobby
- Invitation to an exclusive "Behind the Scenes" tour of N.C. Children's Hospital
- Recognition in both the N.C. Children’s Promise annual report, Keeping the Promise, and the Medical Foundation’s annual donor report
- Invitation and VIP seating for annual “Hospital Update” event with top administrators, physicians, etc.
- Annual subscription to all N.C. Children’s Hospital/N.C. Children’s Promise publications
